抗菌剤耐性

抗生物質、抗ウイルス剤などの抗菌剤は、世界中で何百万人もの命を救ってきましたが、抗菌剤耐性により、これらの薬剤はその効果を失いつつあります。 抗菌剤耐性とは、薬剤に対抗するために遺伝的に進化する微生物の自然な能力のことです。 これは避けられない部分もありますが、抗菌薬の過剰処方や不適切な使用も大きな役割を果たしています。

薬剤耐性感染症は、これらの実際の患者の話が示すように、老いも若きも、健康な人も病気の人も、誰でもかかる可能性があります。 耐性感染症の治療には、米国の医療システムで年間210億ドルから340億ドルのコストがかかると推定されています。 IDSAは、これらの「悪い虫」に対抗し、命を救うために多くの面で取り組んでいます。
