“Come, let us sing for joy to the Lord; let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation. Let us come before him with thanksgiving and extol him with music and song.” Psalm 95:1-2 NIV

Music at Saint Charles is an integral part of our worship service. It is the language that, led by the Spirit, allows us to express our love and longing for our God. Using both voice and instrument allows the congregation to participate fully in the worship of the service.

Song selection is based on the readings of the service and is used to help draw the Spirit of God to the worship service. It helps the members of the congregation prepare to hear the message and sets the tone of the service. Songs embrace the range of feeling from contemplative to extreme joy and are rooted in the Episcopalian tradition. We include gospel music and contemporary worship songs on a regular basis.

We sing with a joyful noise, allowing the music to evoke the emotion of our hearts that leads to prayer in song. The music of the congregation is led by one of our organists, Kathy Highberger and Jacquie H., who not only accompany the hymns, but who also provide beautiful preludes and postludes.
